The Labyrinth Theatre is one of our neighborhood’s best-kept secrets. It’s tucked away inside the Arapaho United Methodist Church, so a lot of neighbors A) don't know it exists and B) often mistake it as doing church-only productions. But this theater actually has a paid staff of professional actors who perform all sorts of works: originals and classics, religious and secular.
You might remember reading about Far North Dallas neighbor Kevin Ash in our magazine a few months ago. He founded a theater in his native New York City before moving to our neighborhood. He now heads The Labyrinth, always striving to keep the artistic direction fresh.
The theater is now launching its latest production, “I Hate Hamlet,” on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The play is centered on Andrew Rally, a big-shot TV actor with a beautiful girlfriend, a posh New York City pad, and the seemingly perfect existence. But when he’s given the chance to play Hamlet in live production, some major glitches arise. From there, the audience is taken on a wacky and humorous ride.
Stephanie Wulfe Epstein directs this play. Her brother has been battling brain cancer for nearly two years now, and because of that, a portion of every ticket sold will go towards brain tumor research.
Tickets range $10 to $25--visit the theater's website for more details.
